There have been changes to the Border Region Resident Permit to allow further travel to Victorian residents, the update is as follows:
Border region residents:
Residents within the border region can apply for a border region permit. Border region residents are able to travel within the border region for any reason with a current permit. Victorian border region residents do not need to comply with any Victorian Stay at Home Directions while in NSW.
1. If you are a border region resident who is a NSW resident
• you must not travel to any part of Victoria that is outside of the border region or is a COVID-19 area of concern
• if you do travel outside the border region in Victoria or to a COVID-19 area of concern your permit will no longer authorise you to enter NSW and you will need to apply for a NSW resident’s permit to re-enter NSW (requiring flight to Sydney Airport and quarantine).
Example: if you live in NSW and go into Victoria to Bendigo for a medical appointment (or any other part of Victoria that is not in the border region) you will have travelled outside the border region and as such have to comply with the above. The police have discretion and could stop you at the checkpoint from entering NSW. In this example you would be better to apply for a Carers Permit and follow the rules relating to obtaining this type of permit.
2. If you are a border region resident who is a Victorian resident
• you must not travel to any part of NSW that is outside of the border region
• you must not enter NSW if you have been in a restricted area in Victoria or in a COVID-19 area of concern in the previous 14 days.
Example: if you live in Victoria and go to Bendigo (or any other part of Victoria that is not a restricted area or COVID area of concern) you will be able to enter NSW as long as you do not go outside the border region in NSW.
So you can go to Bendigo for an appointment, or travel to any other part of Victoria (that is not a restricted area or hotspot) for any reason and still enter NSW to play golf or visit the club.
Border Permits are now issued for 28 days (not 14 days anymore)

Dear Members and Guests,
On Sunday the 19th of July NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced, “From midnight Tuesday 21 July, border zone residents with a permit will only be able to cross into the other side of the NSW-Victorian border zone to go to work or attend an education institution if they can’t work or learn from home, or to obtain medical care, supplies or health services”.
With 99% of our local Members and Guests residing on the Victorian side of the border, it is with a heavy heart that we announce we will have to close Murray Downs Golf & Country Club at the end of trade on the night of Tuesday 21st of July.
Murray Downs Club facilities (including Golf and Bowls) will remain closed until the restrictions ease in the future to allow Victorians to travel across the NSW border for the purposes of sport and day-to-day life. We are devastated to have to close the doors and all facilities and the impact on the Club, staff and community will be far reaching.
All Club facilities will be open tomorrow Tuesday the 21st from 11am – late and you can still visit us with your existing permit to enjoy lunch or dinner.
We need your support now more than ever at our 2 other venues, Swan Hill Club and Spoons Riverside, and we can’t wait to open the doors again when we are able. Please stay up to date on our Facebook page for the latest news.

Dear Members and Guests,
On the 1st April the NSW Government back flipped on its decision to close all golf courses and has now stated that golf can continue to be played under strict rules and social distancing measures.
The Board of the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club has met to discuss this recent NSW Government decision and has decided to re-open the golf course and the pro shop. This will be effective on Saturday 4th April 2020.
The ability to exercise safely, the ongoing mental health of our members and community and the NSW Government decision to allow golf to be played were all factors in the Board’s decision.
The Club will reactivate the ability to book golf and pay for your membership online. Competition golf will recommence on Saturday. The Pro Shop and the Course will not be open to the public on Friday but you will be able to call on 03 5033 1427 on Friday if you have any questions.
Please ensure you follow the strict rules to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff.
